Biographical notes:
Michael Penny was born in Ebbw Vale, Gwent, Wales in 1943, and was educated at King Henry VIII School, Abergavenny. He read Mathematics at the University of Reading before teaching for twelve years and becoming the Director of Mathematics and Business Studies at Queen Mary’s College Basingstoke in Hampshire, England. In 1978 he entered Christian publishing, and in 1984 became the administrator of the Open Bible Trust, a position he held for seven years, before moving to the USA and becoming pastor of Grace Church in New Berlin, Wisconsin, a position he held from 1991-1999. In August 1999 he, his wife and children returned to England where he continues writing and editing for the Open Bible Trust. At present he is the Mathematics Coordinator at Reading Alternative School, a school for children with emotional and behavioural disorders. In addition he is once again the administrator of the Open Bible Trust, and editor of its bi-monthly magazine, "Search". Books by this author: APPROACHING THE BIBLE: The author examines many different approaches to the Bible, and then explains the approach he prefers and the reasons why. Illustrating his point are topics such as "Fasting", "Tithing", "Healing", "The Sabbath", and more. Includes a fascinating section on the history of dispensational thought. BACK TO SCHOOL: A practical guide to running a Christian youth fellowship group. THE BALANCED CHRISTIAN LIFE: A series of five studies based on Ephesians, exploring the blessings Christians have in Christ, and the practical Christian life which should follow. In a workbook format, this is ideal for both group study and private use. THE BIBLE – MYTH OR MESSAGE? Subtitled “Amazing facts about the book Christians call God’s Word. Subjects include: What is the Bible? Where did it come from? Is it fact or fiction? Is it reliable? Is it inspired? Is it a message from man or from God?, and more. THE CLEAR WILL OF GOD: Looks at such Biblical expressions as "the will of the Lord". "God's will" etc, and how the Christian of today can know the will of God. ISAIAH 6 - ITS OT & NT FULFILMENTS: The O.T. background to this chapter is given before a detailed consideration of each of its N.T. quotations, including that found in Acts 28. ISRAEL IN THE NEW TESTAMENT: (M. Penny - ed.) Concisely outlines the role played by the nation of Israel in the Gospels, during the Acts Period, and after the Acts Period. THE LAST DAYS! WHEN? When we read the expression “the last days” in our Bibles many people automatically think of the times leading up to Christ’s return, but is it right to do so? LOVE IN THE BIBLE: 8 studies on “love”, showing that it is essential for believers to have a clear understanding of what love is - from God’s point of view, not ours. Explaining the reason behind each type, the author attempts to place each of the miracles in their Biblical context. THE NEW COVENANT: The author first explains what a covenant is, then answers the following: What is the New Covenant? Who is it between? When is it in operation? PAUL'S THREE MINISTRIES: Deals with the ministries of Paul before and after Acts 28. Comparisons are made in the subjects of miraculous healing, the Law, the near return of Christ, and more. THE PLACE OF PRAYER IN AN AGE OF GRACE: A question and answer booklet, with suggested answers for consideration and discussion. RESURRECTION! WHEN? (With S. Penny) This publication discusses when the resurrection of believers (and unbelievers) takes place.
